Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can accumulate in buildings depending on soil conditions, construction type, and ventilation characteristics.

In commercial, institutional, and multi-unit buildings, radon measurement may be coordinated alongside:

  • Property Condition Assessment (PCA)
  • Building Condition Assessment (BCA)
  • Environmental due diligence review
  • Ongoing facility management programs

At Okanagan Commercial Inspections, radon measurement services are provided as a supplemental scope and are not automatically included in all assessments.

When Radon Measurement May Be Appropriate

Testing scope, duration, and interpretation depend on building use, occupancy patterns, and client objectives. Radon screening or measurement may be considered in:
Ground-contact commercial spaces
Buildings with limited ventilation
Offices, schools, and institutional buildings
Properties located in regions identified as having elevated radon potential

Scope of Radon Services

Radon measurement is non-invasive and limited to the scope and duration specified at the time of engagement.

Where requested, radon-related services may include:

  • Deployment of approved radon measurement devices
  • Review of existing radon mitigation systems (where present)
  • Reporting of measured radon concentrations
  • Reference to applicable Health Canada guidance levels
